A regular for the Stars between 2020 and 2022, midcourter Lisa Mather makes a return to the team in purple for 2024. Re-joining the Stars after a season playing for the Saracens Mavericks in England’s Super League, Mather replaces Samon Nathan who is expecting her first child. Comfortably able to play all three midcourt positions, Mather is a tenacious and gritty performer, generally from wing defence but more time playing at centre in England makes her a valuable all-rounder. Offshore experience and plenty of court time has enhanced Mather’s maturity as a player and her familiarity with the Stars make her a welcome addition. A no-nonsense, no fuss approach and her one-on-one defensive capabilities add extra starch at the backend of the court while she also offers a strong attacking component.
