The Robinhood Stars and Comets teams wish to announce that Temepara Bailey will be stepping down from her role of Head Coach of the Comets to pursue an exciting new coaching opportunity in Australia.

Temepara has played a key role across both the Stars and Comets teams over the past five years since she took on the role as Stars Assistant Coach in the Star’s inaugural year in 2017.

In 2019, Temepara, dusted off her netball shoes for a season as she took on dual roles as Assistant Coach and player, being part in the team’s most successful season to date which saw them through to the Grand Final.

In 2020, she took on a new challenge of Head Coach of the Comets as well as the Stars Assistant Coach role. With COVID putting a halt on the Comets 2020 season she made the decision to focus on the sole role of Comets Head Coach in 2021 where she coached a very promising team who made it through to the National Netball League final.

General Manager, Dianne Lasenby said “A South Aucklander at heart, Temepara has been crucial in the development of the Stars and Comets franchises with her passion for creating pathways for local players. It has been a pleasure to have Temepara as part of our Stars Whanau for the past 5 years and we whilst we are sad to lose her, we are very excited for her new opportunity. We would like to wish Temepara the best of luck”.

A new Robinhood Comets Head Coach will be confirmed in the coming week.
