The Northern Stars Netball Franchise is proud to announce Manukau Institute of Technology has joined the Stars family as a valued partner for the 2019 ANZ Premiership netball league.

Northern Stars General Manager, Dianne Lasenby said: “We are delighted to welcome Manukau Institute of Technology as a community partner.”

Manukau Institute of Technology is a South Auckland based tertiary education provider. Established in 1970,the institute is the largest Category 1, the highest educational rating as evaluated by NZQA.

The Northern Stars franchise is excited to work together with the institute in the South Auckland community, with joint engagement and support into the local schools, strengthening MIT’s mission of “where the best makers are made”

“MIT’s partnership with the Stars is based on a shared focus on achievement and supporting the aspirations of those in the region. We have been really impressed by the community outreach the franchise does and we’re thrilled to be part of the team,” says Chief Executive Gus Gilmore.

The sponsorship deal builds on a relationship that has existed since the franchise’s inaugural year. Since then second year students at MIT’s School of Sport have run clinics with players once a week as part of their Sport Massage and Rehabilitation paper.

This year two interns from the school’s degree programme have assisted coaching staff to provide ‘real time’ analysis at home games and training sessions. These are great opportunities for them to develop their skills in a real world, high performance environment.

School of Sport Head of Practice, Michelle Parsons is also a member of the Stars coaching unit.
