Legendary netball player Temepara Bailey, who donned her playing shoes again this season for the Northern Stars, is going to be concentrating on a dual off-court role this coming season.

The Northern Stars franchise has announced that Temepara Bailey will again fill the role of Assistant Coach of the Northern Stars. This will be her fourth year in the role and in addition, the Northern Stars Board has appointed Bailey as Head Coach, of the Northern Comets team.

Netball Northern Zone has recently been handed over full management of the team to the Northern Stars and will be run out of Pulman Arena, home of the Northern Stars. The Northern Comets, an amateur development team, sits under the Northern Stars and acts as an important feeder pathway for future Northern Stars players.

Northern Stars General Manager, Dianne Lasenby said, it’s an opportune time for Temepara to head up a campaign as Head Coach. We were keen to put in place potential succession plans and this gives us an opportunity to support Tempera’s professional development. With the Comets moving under Stars management fully, this is the logical appointment, “South Auckland is home for Temepara, and the netball community will again embrace her in this additional role.

Bailey added “South Auckland is where it all began for me, I am very excited to lead the Comets campaign and more so to work with the talented athletes we have in our region”

2019 Northern Comets Head Coach, Kathy Henry is unavailable to be part of the Northern Comets this year due to whanau commitments.

The Northern Stars are currently advertising for the following roles;

Northern Stars Resource Coach, Northern Comets Assistant Coach and

Northern Comets Manager.
