The Northern Stars will be without Temepara Bailey and Ellen Halpenny for their round eight match against the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel today.

Both players were granted pre-approved leave that was agreed upon last year.

Head coach Kiri Wills says it’s a scenario her management team have been planning for all season.

“We knew this was on the cards all year and have brought into the squad development players Nadia Loveday and shooter Filda Vui, who have been having strong seasons in the Beko league.”

Wills added, “Nadia has already been on court for us in round six and isn’t new to this level of competition. It’s also an opportunity for Filda to showcase the impressive array of shooting skills she has, I’m confident we have all areas of the court covered.”

The Northern Stars are looking to bounce back from consecutive losses this afternoon in front of a home crowd in South Auckland at the Pulman Arena.

Door sales are available, game starts at 4.10pm.
